Design & Create Your Own Handmade Ceramic Ritual Accessory
This workshop invites you to design and create your own functional ceramic pipe, combining handbuilding techniques with considerations of usability, airflow, and personal aesthetics.
Working on a smaller scale allows for a different kind of focus — attention to detail, proportion, and the relationship between form and function. You will be guided through the technical aspects of constructing a pipe, while also having space to explore your own design language.
The process is both practical and creative: understanding how the object works, while shaping something that feels personal and intentional.
What you will explore
- Basic handbuilding techniques for small objects
- Designing for function: airflow, bowl depth, and ergonomics
- Sculpting and refining detailed forms
- Creating clean openings and connections
- Surface texture, carving, and finishing
Approach
This workshop is guided step-by-step, but allows for individual interpretation and experimentation. Whether you prefer a minimal design or something more expressive, the focus is on creating a piece that works well and reflects your own approach.
Care and precision are key, especially when working at this scale.
